Kyle's 39th Birthday

Kyle turned 39 on the 29th of April. I got up and decorated the house after he fell asleep. I'm sure he really appreciated it. On Monday night we met my family, Susan, Brian, and Grandma in Layton at Garcia's and had dinner to celebrate. He was so thrilled when they put a sombrero on him and sang. I'm disappointed the picture turned out blurry.

Kyle wanted a duster coat for his birthday so of course my Dad gave him a feather duster. Funny Rickey! I don't think Kyle was nearly as amused as the rest of us.

Mom made him an oatmeal cake and it was still warm and incredibly delicious. For some reason in every picture of the evening the subject has a bizarre look on their face.

Apparently something shocking just happened.

Do you think he ate a lemon.

Brooklyn's Baptism

The Special Baptism Girl
Brooklyn's Baptism was moved up a week because her Grandpa Maynard got a job and had to move quickly. I went to Wellsville last night and helped Emily get things ready for the big day. We were up past midnight finishing up what Emily calls the "fluff" (decorations and stuff).

It was such a nice day. Brooklyn looked beautiful and her new dress was beautiful. The baptism dress she was wore was the same one Emily and Natalie wore when they were baptized.

There was a huge turnout of family and friends to support Brooklyn. It was a really nice day.

I made this baptism sign for her.

Garrett is such a big help.
I don't know about you but I always wear high heels to mop.
I didn't realize how alike these two look until I loaded this picture.

Hydee's Birthday BBQ

Hydee's birthday was on Sunday this year and we ended up having a BBQ at Kory and Mandy's place. They have such a beautiful home and backyard. The kids started a water fight and Kory finished it off by getting rid of the last of the water on Hydee. It was a nice night and the kids seemed to have a fun time.

To stop the kids from throwing water
Kory got rid of the rest of the water.
Hydee was really happy with the way
he decided to dispose of the water.
I think she lost the fight.
The boys had a blast.
The kids thought Darren
should join in the fun.
Of course we had to light the candles several times so
all the kids got to help Grandma Hydee blow them out.

Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival

My family came down and some of us went to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point while the others went to the gun show. We then met up at City Creek and walked around the new shopping area before meeting up to eat at Kneader's. The tulips were beautiful and we found kind of a hidden area with sculptures of Jesus. They were so amazing. I don't know who the artist is, but they are incredibly talented.  They are working on making it a new part of the gardens.

Mom and Dad stayed with us through the rest of the weekend after the others went home.  We went to church on Sunday with both sets of parents. It was nice to spend some time with them.

Easter 2012

We spent Easter weekend in Wellsville. Mom, Tom, Marlee and I started out the weekend by coloring easter eggs Friday night.  We had seen all these different ideas on Pinterest we wanted to try out.  We used kool-aid for the dye, which worked great.  All the other ideas pretty much were a major failure.  The old trick of writing on the egg with a crayon before coloring it was basically the winner.

Saturday we went to Baby Animal Days (covered in the previous post). We had been giving my Mom a hard time about if we were going to be getting baskets and have an egg hunt.  We went to church together on Sunday and I totally enjoyed Jan Maughan's talk in church about the atonement. His analogy about thinking about the most pain you have ever been in and comparing it to Christ hanging there in total agony for 6 hours was very humbling for me. It really helped make the atonement real for me. His talk and the beautiful musical numbers made for a special Easter meeting.

That afternoon Mom actually ended up having Dad hide eggs. Luckily Emily and her girls showed up in time to help us out with the hunt so we didn't look like a bunch of idiots wandering around the yard. They then joined us for a delicious ham dinner. When we got home to Salt Lake Hydee had us a fun basket. We had a really fun weekend.

Baby Animal Days

April was a busy month for us. We started the month by taking Emily and Natalie's kids to Baby Animal Days. It was lots of fun until we lost Garrett. Luckily he was quickly found with the sheriff who informed us, "I really like this kid." So who knows what Garrett had told him. It was just a relief to find him quickly and safe.
